Region of Murcia, Spain:

for less
According to Ernst & Young’s European Attractiveness Survey 2006, Spain ranks sixth as a European destination for foreign investment. At a worldwide level, it is situated in tenth place overall, improving its position in respect to 2005
Within Spain, Murcia has the highest expectations for 2006 in foreign exports and investments. A corporate study carried out by the Chambers of Commerce, which surveyed 85,000 European businesses from the twenty five member countries, reveals that Murcia is the Spanish Region with the greatest potential. In fact, investments predictions are the most ambitious in the country, given that over half of regional firms anticipate growth this year.
A closer look at a number of indicators shows the strength and appeal of Murcia as an investment destination:
GDP: Murcia is one of the Spanish regions with the highest growth, second to Madrid and clearly above Catalonia, Valencia and the Basque country, among others.
Foreign residents: nearly 14% of Murcian residents are not Spanish, which proves the international and cosmopolitan nature of this welcoming region.
Service sector: Murcia is the Spanish region with the largest increase in the service sector at 16.1%, which together with the fact that foreign languages are widely spoken in the region, are making Murcia a very interesting option for international callcenters and service-centers.
Flight increase: the demand of flights to the Region of Murcia has increased in 218%, whereas flights from the region to other destinations have grown in 319% early this year. The construction of the new international airport some 15 miles away from the city center is expected to further contribute to improve these spectacular figures.
For all these reasons, international corporations like General Electric, Pepsico, Mitsui, Kirin, Hyatt, AES corporation, CEMEX as well as Mitsubishi, among many others, have chosen Murcia as the platform from which to serve their international markets.
