The founding partners appointed Mr Otto Gregussen, a former member of the Norwegian cabinet and counsellor of fisheries at the Norwegian embassy in Washington DC, as director for Access Mid- Norway. Thus the founding partners signalled their level of ambition for the company from the outset.

Mid-Norway can offer investors and relocating companies highly qualified workers and world-class expertise in knowledge-based industries as well as internationally recognized research and education facilities. “Access Mid-Norway and discover your future” is our challenge to future industries, research partners and talented people from all over the world. “Our region is a unique concentration of talents, skills and natural resources,” Mr Gregussen proudly announces and continues to claim that no other region in Norway can produce the same skilled workforce or the same power of innovation as our region.

Access Mid-Norway has four focus areas. These are aquaculture and marine resources; medical devices and health technology; energy technology (oil, gas and renewables); and ICT wireless communication. However this does not mean that the company will not welcome businesses that fall outside of these categories. With its role as the inward investment agency of the region, Access Mid-Norway will promote the region with its advantages and the opportunities it has on offer to interested parties. In conjunction with this, Access Mid-Norway will create a favorable business climate which will keep already existing businesses in the region and secure their future growth and development next to new developments. These two aspects of the company’s activities will ensure overall economic growth and a continuous creation of jobs in the region.

Access Mid-Norway does not charge its clients for its services and is therefore accessible to small as well as large companies. These services include everything that a company wishing to set up in the region needs to know, from available industrial sites to information on the relevant legal frameworks, from recruitment to availability of suppliers. The company will provide detailed documentation on the current activities in its four main areas, as well as overviews of communications, locations, education, workforce and culture.

Mid-Norway is a vibrant region with large coastal areas and a lively mainland. The region has long traditions in fishing and farming, and these exist side by side by the fastest-growing industries in the region today. The industries that spearhead the growth in Mid-Norway are in the fields of ICT and oil & gas. An important factor in this growth is the resources and research available at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, as well as SINTEF, the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia.
